Two weeks back, we spent a class presenting on different specialized databases useful for medicine and medical librarianship. I discussed the Household Products Database, a free database provided by the National Library of Medicine. It lists the chemical contents, manufacturer’s information, and safety details for many name brand products used around the house.  Unlike a lot of the other databases mentioned, Household Products doesn’t use MeSH headings for classification. This makes it quick and easy for the general public to access information about the products they use every day. Check it out at
